Test Details: Autoimmune encephalitis is an important and treatable cause of acute encephalitis. Diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis in a developing child is challenging because of overlap in clinical presentations with other diseases and complexity of normal behaviour changes. Children present with acute or subacute onset of neuropsychiatric symptoms due to an underlying abnormal immune response to the CNS. Most common autoantibodies in children target NMDAR, MOG and GAD65.
